EMBA Overseas Leadership Training Camp
In October, 2011, 41 EMBA students from the class of 2010 went to the United States to participate in a two-week EMBA Overseas Leadership Training Camp, led by SYSBS Executive Dean Prof. Li Zhongfei, Associate Dean Prof. Xu Yong and Director of EMBA Education Center Prof. Chen Zhuming. This has been the largest group of students to attend a single camp, which demonstrates SYSBS’s stress on internationalization in recent years. The internationalization process has left an invisible but formative influence on EMBA students due to SYSBS’s sequential AMBA and EQUIS Accreditation.
As an important part for the complement of the EMBA program, this two-week Overseas Camp included visits to four cities - New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The students took courses at Northwestern University (NU), and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).The Marketing Department in Kellogg School of Management (KGSM) at NU is generally acknowledged as the best in America. During the courses, many academic giants, for example, the KGSM Marketing Prof. Don Schultz, who is known as the father of Integrated Marketing, gave excellent lectures to the students and led various in-course interactions. When the students had no classes, they visited the Chicago Board of Trade and communicated with the Vice President about global financial conditions. While at UCLA, the students could take a Business Ethics course. The other course offered was Innovative Thinking, which would encourage students to switch their thinking patterns.
